Alice Debany-Clero

Born in 1968, Alice grew up in Bedford, NY on a farm and competed in the US as  the leading National Junior Jumper Rider and achieved top placings in the Medal  and Maclay Finals. In 1992, Alice graduated with a BA in Sociology from NYU. 

From the age of 17, she became a professional showjumping rider and trainer at  Old Salem Farm from 1987 to 1993. 

During these years, Alice represented the USET in international competitions on  the Natural, winning most notably the World Cup Grand Prix of NY, and the  Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Calgary, CA. 

In 1994, Alice established her own business in Bedford, teaching and competing on the East Coast. She married in 1995 and moved to Paris. 

While in Europe, Alice pursued her international career, representing the USET in  dozens of Nations Cup competitions and 4*/5* Grand Prix. She quickly began to  be known for producing young horses to Grand Prix, as well as developing riders  of all levels. 

Alice has coached many riders in the Olympic Games, World Cup finals, Asian  Games, and Nations Cup finals and other international competitions. She was  Head Coach of the Dubai show jumping team for 14 years and has coached  international riders in the US, Europe, and the Middle East, many of whom have  qualified for the Olympics, WEG and World Cup Finals. 

From 1995 to 2019, Alice herself has won or ranked in numerous Grand Prix. She  earned top placings in Nation Cups, 5*Longines International World Ranking  competitions, including La Baule CSIO, Aachen CHIO, Paris, Rotterdam,  Amsterdam, Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Wellington, Gijon, Madrid, Cannes, Geneva,  Rome, and Dublin. 

Alice, her husband and their three children reside in Paris and New York, NY. She  also keeps developing horses at their Atlantic waterfront farm near La Baule,  France while she travels, coaching clients and competing internationally. 

Alice is now back at Old Salem Farm to develop riders and horses.
