Marissa Yubas has recently joined the Old Salem Farm team as trainer and barn manager. A lifelong equestrian, Marissa came up through the Big Eq, bringing her 2nd year green to Maclay Finals. After riding for Emmy and Mattias Tromp, Marissa began working at Back Country Farm with the Shulman’s focusing on bringing along ponies and training future Grand Prix stars with Jill and her team.
Marissa comes to us now with experience in all three rings and well-rounded knowledge in horsemanship, horse care, management, teaching, and training. Marissa is passionate about working with riders at all levels to make them well-rounded, successful riders, no matter what their goals in the saddle may be. She works with riders, parents, and Alice to discuss, devise, and execute individualized plans for horse and rider. As barn manager, Marissa has unique insight on each and every horse she trains and rides.
Marissa does not travel to Florida during the winter season in order to stay home to teach, ride, and bring winter warriors to local shows. She holds a BA in Psychology and an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy and utilizes sports psychology in her teaching and her own riding every day.
